Who Is OM solutions?

Optometric Medical Solutions provides a turnkey solution for the medical side of optometric care at a reasonable price. 

The future in Optometry is to enhance and elevate the standards of Optometric care, therefore improving patient care, diversification of services and quality of education in the profession through the implementation of the Medical Model.

The Optometrist can and should provide medical care to their patients.  It not only makes them better Doctors but also allows them to bill to medical insurance panels, thus providing higher reimbursements for their services.

Historically, Optometry is a retail-oriented profession.  Patient care is provided to drive the retail aspect of the profession. Optometric Medical Solutions is your expert to facilitate your move into the Medical Model.

Jerry M. Godwin MBA – CEO, Board Member


Jerry graduated in 2003 from UTSA with an MBA; he also holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration-Finance.   His diverse work experience in leadership roles with P&L responsibility, directly managing sales, account management and operations in Health Care, Records & Information Management and the Energy business have provided Jerry with a deep experience in many forms of marketing, customer relations management and matrix management.

In addition to this tactical experience, he has been responsible for the strategic leadership essential of executive management.  This leadership required business plan development involving capital planning and cash forecasting, leading acquisition teams for due diligence and subsequent assimilation into current business operations, employee training and development, human resource planning, benefit analysis and project management.

Jerry is an active member of his church and is the co-founder of Men of Light Men’s Ministry.  He, his wife Diane of 15 years and their two children reside in San Antonio.

Dr. Paul Karpecki, OD FAAO – National Education Director

Dr. Karpecki graduated from Indiana University and completed a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Hunkeler Eye Centers in affiliation with the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1994.  He currently works at the Koffler Vision Group in Cornea services and Ocular Surface Disease Research.

He is the first optometrist to be invited to both the Delphi International Society at Wilmer-John’s Hopkins as well as the National Eye Institute’s dry eye committee.

He is immediate past president of the Optometric Council on Refractive Technology, is current Chair of the Refractive Surgery Advisory Board to the American Optometric Association, Chair of the Topical Interest Group in Refractive Surgery, Co-Chair of the ASCRS Task Force on the Integrated Eyecare Delivery System and serves on the AOA Congress Education Committee.

He also serves on the board of Optometry Giving Sight, a charitable organization that provides glasses and vision to millions of people in need around the world.


Dr. Arthur A. Medina, Jr. OD – Founder, Board President

Dr. Medina entered the practice of optometry in 1972 and was appointed to the faculty of the University of Houston School of Optometry. He began working with the noted Houston ophthalmologist, Louis Girard, M.D., who chaired the department of ophthalmology at Baylor University.

Dr. Medina started a solo private practice in 1983 that specialized in contact lens fitting. He was a guest lecture at the International Congress of Contactology in Caracas, Venezuela and the American Academy of Optometry. He also participated as a clinical investigator for the FDA and numerous contact lens manufacturers and contact lens solution companies.

His experience with pre and post operative care of cataract and refractive surgery patients led to referral relationships with leading ophthalmic surgeons throughout Texas and the western United States. From these associations he has built one of the largest post refractive surgery optometric practices in the country. He has authored several articles relating to the optometric care and treatment of pre and post operative refractive surgery patients.

In addition to operating his optometric practice Dr. Medina has been a refractive surgery consultant since 1991. He has provided educational courses throughout the United States for hundreds of optometrists. He has assisted scores of ophthalmologists in developing refractive surgery referral networks of optometrists that emphasize quality of care and patient education.


Royce Vickery, CPA – Board Member

Royce graduated from the University of Texas in 1978 with his Bachelor’s of Business Administration.  Royce has been a CPA since 1980 and has 4 years of Public Accounting experience.  He has 26 years of financial management and leadership roles in the sales and distribution industry.  Twenty three of these years were with Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc.  Coca-Cola is the world's largest bottler & distributor of Coca-Cola products.

Royce recently retired as Southwest Region Vice-President of Finance for  Coca-Cola Enterprises, a business unit with revenues of 2 billion dollars, and 50 branches in 5 states.


David Wise, JD – Board Member

Mr. Wise has been engaged in the private practice of law for over 35 years. He is a business lawyer with substantial experience in the areas of corporation and partnership law with an emphasis on securities transactions. He has been involved in numerous acquisitions, mergers, public and private offerings of securities (stock, debt instruments, partnership interests).  During 1996 and 1998, Mr. Wise served as the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel to Science-Based Health Corp., in Carson City, Nevada.  

Mr. Wise is a 1973 graduate of The University of Oklahoma College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree.  He was an Editor of the Oklahoma Law Review and a Member of the Order of the Coif.  Mr. Wise is a member in od standing of the State Bar of Texas (Bar. Card No. 21806500).

Optometric Medical Solutions, Inc. (OM Solutions) November 2008 to more aptly capture company’s vision and mission for the profession.

Optometric Medical Solutions, Inc. changed corporate status to Optometric Medical Solutions, LLC in April, 2009.
